III. Designing a Book/Magazine Shelf

The idea is to build a shelf where magazines can be hung, similar to a hanging file.
The shelf has the shape of a ladder and leans against the wall.
It’s also possible, to mount the ladder completely vertically or horizontally.

My first idea was, to make the ladder completely parametric.

I started with the outer posts and added custom parameters

With these parameters, I’m able to customize the outer posts completely.

Then I went ahead with the ‘inserts’. With the parameter MagazineWidth I’m able to adjust the width, but sadly I didn’t found the right constrains to adjust the height, too.
So I decided make it with fixed dimensions.

And the same for the top and bottom mount parts.
