introduction

Here is the overview of my project. The basic sketches for it. You can see the cosplay costume (we will though sew that again and redesign the back). Pictures of the character the cosplay mimics. The charm that I will change on the costume for a 3D printed piece. The clay was a little heavy.

Sketches

Sketches you made for the final project. On it you can see the dementions that I wanted. Also the material Im thinking of using like LED lights, the color of the backplate (peach) and multiple sizes of the wings.I designed the wings from a bitmap image and used trace to edit it into a usable design. I open the file in JPEG format and use Trace bitmap to convert it to a usable image (leaving me with just the outline). Then you select the area and adjust the size. After that you fill in stroke, adjust the color and line width to 0,02 mm. The final file is then saved as a PDF.

Pic one: The wings are supposed to fit a character from Winx club called Tecna. The wings need to be wide over the shoulder. I want to try to put a LED strip lights on it. Purple or green lights. A sample of plastic to use for the wings. Pic two: These wings are for a character from Winx club called Bloom. I have done wings for her before that were structually flawed. So I want to get them structurally stable and larger. Also I would like to add LED Lights.

Pics: ideas that came up this week. do both wings to see how heavy they will be. Make a servo box for them. The backplate needs to be peach or as close to skincolor as possible.

Pic one: two types of LED lights.l Purple on the ourside and green inside the wings. Use holographic vinyl to cover the wings. Holographic green to purple. Pic two: Use blue viny to make the pattern on the wings. Yellow LED lights for this one.

Projects

Idea

My idea for the final project will be cosplay fairy wings for my sister. She wants wings that can move by themselves and have a function that she can interchange the wings. The wings themselves need to be light because she has a bad back and they need to be able to be detachable for when she goes in her wheelchair or for travel. The box with the mechanics needs to be smaller enough to fit under her costume and it can't be too bulky so it would be seen on stage. I was thanking of using a file from thingiverse Animatronic Cosplay Wings as a start.

Character

The character is Bloom from Winx Club. I wanna put light strips in the wings themselves to mimic the led lights that comes from the characters that the cosplayer is cosplaying as. In the opening credits there are sparkels in the transformation and any time she uses her powers the wings light up.

The wings themselves I was thinking of laser cutting them, so I can make ridges for the early straps and holes for the attachment for the backplate.

Material thin PETG.

I was thinking of using 3D filament that mimics skin tone to make the controller box blend in with her as much as possible.

Charm

The charm (Charmix) I had previously made out of clay but I want to 3D print it from flexi filament to make it lighter so it doesnt pull on the costume.

  • Summary

I deconstructed the project and broke it into several parts. One of those parts is the wings. I will be making them for my final project.
