introduction

This week was a review of the progress I have made on the final project.

Projects

Final Project: What task have been completed?

All the components have been made and final assembly done. The program for the wings wasnt working compleatly right. The wings wanted to move in the same direction instead of opening and closing together. We worked on the program and ended up figuring out how to do that better. The movement is also not as smooth as I wanted it to be.

Final Project: What task remain?

Tweaking the programing of the wings to make them work as a whole. Figuring out how to implement WiFi control but that might be put on the backburner.

Final Project: What has worked? What hasn´t?

The wing clip had to be enlarged to get a smoother movement and a better grip on the wings. The wing clip was not big enough or long enough for the weight of the wings. The sizing of the wings needed to be adjusted to about 1/3 of the size and cutouts were made, veins were added later for structual support.

Final Project: What questions need to be resolved?

Stronger servos for bigger wings. How much can be removed from the inside without loosing integrity. A voltage regulator needs to be added for bigger servos.

Final Project: What will happen when?

Both problems will be resolved and tested out in the next version of the wings.

Final Project: What have you learned?

A lot. I learned a lot about electrical programming. Prior to this course I took one class in electrial work that came in handy. It was good to be able to used that knowledge. Electrical programming and gettig things to automate was interesting for me. I had taken a few classes in design and learning to work with 3D printing. I expanded on that knowledge and learned how to used the 3D printer to its maximum. Lazer cutting and using the lazer cutter on different materials is something that will be very useful in the future since I will probably be doing a lot of cosplay designing. I had used the milling mashine before but I had no idea how much I can use it on.
