Final Project Ideas

For the Final Project our project must have additive method, subtractive method and Embedded Programming. I wondered for a week for my final project and these are the list of final project. From the list below I decided to make Sliding Calender.

  • Auto fan controller
  • Rotating perpetual calender
  • Auto Perfume spray
  • Auto lamp

Concept and Reason for my Final Project.

I decided to work on auto rotating calender calender as I got inspired by some perpetual calenders from pinterest. I think this can be for functional home decor where by it can be kept on corner shelf. It can also be given as a gift and reused over years and years since the year is not written on it.

I think this in project I can integrate subtractive, additive and Embedded Programming and it perfectly fulfill the final project requirement and moreover I think this will be challenging for me to work on mechanism and programming part.

This is my rough sketch of my final project and this may not be the final look of my project.

FPsketch

How it works?

My calender will change the date, day and month according to the set time. It will rotate 360 degree angle and for this I want to use DC motor and some gears for speed reduction.

Final Project Components

  1. Physical Fabrication

    1. Subtractive: I will use shopbot and laser cutter for cutting rings, base and the stand.

    2. Additive

    3. I will use 3D printed bracket to hold the rings.
  2. Electronics & Power

    1. Microcontroller Board:
  3. I am using ATTINY1614. From MCU my initial output is servo motor of 3 numbers. The details of pin connection is here.

    1. Input(s) & circuit/power requirements
    2. As a input device I am using RTC module and LDR sensor. RTC module is t okeep track of time for date, day and month and LDR sensor is to turn on the light on the calender during night.
    3. For this I am designing two PCB board and it functions independently. Details on board design is here.

    4. Output(s) & circuit/power requirements

    5. Each servos requires 5V.For this I am using 9V external battery and a Voltage regulator AMS1117 5.0.

    6. Power Source(s)

    7. 9v 1200 mah battery 2 numbers, separately for each board.

    8. Wiring, Switches & Connectors:

    9. All the wirings will be at the back if the stand and the electronics parts will be covered with the front cover.
  4. Programming > Modules

    1. Input(s): Programme to move servo in certain angle and the LDR sensor to sense the daylight and night and put the LED ON/OFF.
    2. Output(s):Servo movement and LED glows.
  5. Project Assembly

    • To assembly the physical parts I will use the Fasteners and glue.
  6. Presentation: Video & Slides

    1. Function description:RRotating perpetual Calender will showing the day, date and the month and it can be used over years as the year is not mentioned.

    2. Component description:

    3. Rings with the gear: It will show the date, day and month by rotating daily in 24v hours and the month will rotate only once.
    4. The front cover will be covering the electronics part and it will be attached with LED whixh will glow at night.
