Introduction¶

Hi! I am Yeshey Wangmo Lepcha and I am 28 years old. I was born in southern part of Bhutan, Samtse Dorokha. It is one of the most remote part of the country. I started my schooling at country side where there was no electricity, road and it takes two days on foot to reach main town. I got transferred in grade eight to the boarder side area called Zhemgang where I started getting exposed to urban facilities like Television, Electricity and also started using Computer. After that I got transferred to Daga Higher Secondary School which is located in central part of Bhutan. It is a small town which is 222km from main capital city.

My Background¶

I did my Diploma programme in Mechanical at Jigme Namgyel Engineering College which shares the boarder between India and Bhutan. I completed the course in year 2017 and currently I am working as a Technical supervisor at Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck Super Fab Lab located at Thimphu, Bhutan. Jigme Namgyel wangchuk Super Fablab was the first ever fablab in Bhutan that gave exposure in digital fabircation Technology to the youths in th country. The lab was inaugurated by His Royal highness Prience Jigme Namgyel WangchuCk on 4th june 2022 presented in the kupar below.

Previouse Experience¶

Before joining the Super Fablab, I worked in Bhutan Ferro Alloys Limited as a Junior Engineer(Mechanical Department). BFAL is one of the largest Ferro Silicon Manufacturing company based in Southern Part of Bhutan. During my stay I have learned to repair and maintain machineries and also maintaining its inventory, designing machine parts using 2D software. Having basic ideas one engineering background I was interested in learning and exploring on advancement of technologies. After I joined this lab it gave me more curiosity in learning more on digital fabrication. So I started learning basics on 3D modeling and also basics of electronics and also I got familiar to machines like 3d printer, laser cutter, CNC router, PCB milling machine and other CNC machines.

My Favorites¶

To list out some of my favorite things, I am really keen on hiking and visiting new places, taking photographs. Out of many cuisine I ate my favorite one is definitely Bhutanese dishes locally known as red rice and Ema Dathsi(Chilli cheese). Ema dathsi is one of the most convenient and easy to prepare because it does not require more ingredients.

This year I am taking Fab Academy and I am really excited to learn new things, exploring new tools and technologies.

Student Agreement¶

Fab Academy is responsible for:

1. Teaching principles and practices of digital fabrication
2. Arranging lectures, recitations, meetings, and events for the class
3. Evaluating and providing feedback on student work
4. Offering clear standards for completing assignments
5. Certifying and archiving student progress
6. Supervising class preparation
7. Reviewing prospective students, instructors, and labs
8. Providing central staff and infrastructure for students, instructors, and labs
9. Fund-raising for costs not covered by student tuition
10.Managing and reporting on the program's finances, results, and impacts 
11.Publicizing the program
12. Promoting a respectful environment free of harassment and discrimination
13.Encourage a diverse, accessible, and equitable community

I am a Fab Academy student, responsible for:

1. Attending class lectures and participating in review
2. Developing and documenting projects assigned to introduce and demonstrate skills
3. Allowing the Fab Academy to share my work (with attribution) in the class for purposes compatible with its
  mission
4. Honestly reporting on my work, and appropriately attributing the work of others (both human and machine)
  Working safely
5. Leaving workspaces in the same (or better) condition than I found them
6. Participating in the upkeep of my lab
7. Ensuring that my tuition for local and central class costs is covered
8. Following locally applicable health and safety guidance
9. Promoting a respectful environment free of harassment and discrimination
