8. Computer controlled machining

▶ Group assignment ✌

● safety training

  • Complete your lab’s safety training

Because we work with big machines, we need to know Safety precautions and procedures must be considered while working on CNC machines.

Do not cross the line and leave a safe distance between you and the machine during operation.

Please read, understand and apply all caution signs.

Check to make sure both emergency STOP buttons are released by twisting clockwise.

● Test the machine

  • Test runout, alignment, speeds, feeds, and toolpaths for your machine

material: MDF SPEED: 6.000 mm/min RPM: 12.000 End mill: 1/4 (6.721 mm) Upcut tool position: On

I design an object with different shapes and angles to test how the CNC machine will act with is

For the size of the lines in the down As you see I lose some millimeters to do this comparison, I Wright the right dimension when I draw it by using the caliper I write the dimensions after the cut

for the sharp angles, it became not that much smoother with the profile as you see the triangle it became like a Dog bone but if we check the square with 90 degrees angles the cutting of the corner very smooth and clean

My opinion is there are many reasons that can affect your cutting or drilling by using the CNC machine

the cutting tool

the size of the cutting tool be it should be considered when you start drawings because it’s not like a laser machine the size of the cutting machine change depend on the thickness of the wood and the size of your design.

The degrees of angles

The degrees of angles Its effect because if you use a cutting tool with a size bigger than your Angles design you will a dog bone as I did .

The Cutting depth

The Cutting depth I observe from the shapes in the picture above the engraving shape it’s better than the cutout shapes so the depth of the cutting tool has a big effect because the engraving does need the cutting tool to go very deep.
