18. Invention, intellectual property and income

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
  • Prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) and put them in your root directory.

INVENTION

In terms of mechanism I have used a rack, pinion and stepper motors, the difference with other works is the purpose I am giving it, to have a commercial module easy to transport and that can be folded, because so far I do not see projects focused in that area, with these features and for this type of user.

This is the first version and is the one that the public around the world has access to.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

In the Fab Academy, our works are exposed to the public under the Open Source modality. In my case, I will use Creative Commons to create a license that suits my project and set the conditions to be shared or replicated.

You must answer questions about how you would like it to be shared, you can click on the following link to create your own license: Creative Commons

Once you have answered the questionnaire, you will be able to visualize the type of license you have chosen, in my case these are the conditions:

You are free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.

Under the following terms:

  • Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

  • NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

  • ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

You can see more details in the following link: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

There is the option to add more data and customize the link to your license, in my case I only added my name. Another important point is that my page is in Markdown, so you can not display an HTML code that gives you Creative Commons, so I downloaded the image according to my license type in the following link: Downoad image

I show you below how it would look like(I add the text):

INCOME

Initially I did it for my personal use, to be able to have a modular furniture that allows me to move without problems, carry products safely and expose them to the public.

But as the project progressed I realized that there was a need on the part of the user (entrepreneurs) and the design can be modified using the concept of packaging related to the image of the brand for which it will be designed, but using the same mechanisms or fusion with others. This is something I would really like to do, to be able to design modular spaces that can be easily folded and transported, from a small exhibition stand to a large construction for events.

This concept can also be applied to the development of new technologies for architecture. This is something I really wanted to learn when I was in my university days, new construction methods, innovation and applied technologies, as well as complementing it with sustainability. I didn’t have access to laboratories of this type until I knew about Fab Labs and I hope to be able to develop and demonstrate larger projects, experiment, test and be able to present it to a company that is interested in developing this type of technology.

SLIDE AND VIDEO (DRAFTS)

My final project is not finished yet, I will improve the poster and video when I complete it:
