Home About Me Final Project Fab Academy 2019 Berytech Fab Lab

Week 1: Principles and Practices

During the first session dated on January 16 2019, I was introduced to more than 400 students in 180 Fab Labs from all around the world. It was a very nice network were we can see that the High-Tec education is the common point of interest and is gathering people for different background regardless of their gender, ethnical belonging and nationalities.

The first week assignment was to plan and sketch a final project.

The need:

I am in charge of a high-tech lab that contains different type of CNC machines including an "Ultimaker 3" 3D Printer that uses PVA and PLA type of materials to print and easily remove the constructive material by remaining the end product in the water for a couple of hours. Since our lab is located few meters away from the Mediterranean Sea we are facing a humidity problem in conserving and using the PVA.
That is why I am planning to design and manufacture a "Dehumidifier" to keep the "PVA" in a certain level of humidity. The Dehumidifier will be mounted in the back side of the "Ultimaker 3" 3D Printer and will cover the PLA and PVA filaments and will keep them in a "Humidity" level adapted to the manufacturer specifications below 50 percent.

The usage:

This Dehumidifier can be used by all the Ultimaker 3 customers who are facing humidity problem in storing their PVA. In the first picture we can see the Extended "Ultimaker 3" from the right angle, in the second one my draft from left angle.
