Invention, Intellectual Property and Income

This week we learned about intellectual property and invention, mainly through different types of licences and patents and what they mean in the case of our project. For my project, I am using the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International BY-NC-SA licence According to Creative Commons Website, this means you are free to: Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms. The terms are as follows: Attribution: You must give appropriate credit , provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made . You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use. NonCommercial: You may not use the material for commercial purposes. ShareAlike: If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same licence as the original. No additional restrictions: You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

Future Developments and Opportunities

For the future of my project, I would like to: 1. Add some indications of what the controls do, making it easier to use for beginners. 2. Add modularity so that more designs can be "chained" together to make a bigger system. 3. Make code for different types of synthesis which can run on the same system. 4. Add a small screen which shows the waveform as the musician plays. 5. Build the box out of a nicer wood than plywood 6. Rework the fitting of the side panels so it is perfectly flush (it is very close in the final version!) 7. Add some analog parts such as a filter, amplifier, distortion, etc. My final project, La Chose FM synthesizer, is explained in the slide and video below! Slide
