About me

Me

Hello and welcome to my FabAcademy website. My name is Jean-Côme Picot, I'm 21 (2024) and this year I'm doing the FabAcademy, a course designed to teach me rapid prototyping. I'm doing this course as a double degree instead of a semester of study. I'm in my 4th year of agronomy engineering studies at Unilasalle Beauvais and this year I'm specialising in Agro-technologies.

My hobbies

I come from a farming background, so I've always lived on a farm since I was a child. I've also worked there a lot, since I was 10, driving tractors in the fields during the summer harvest. It's probably my oldest passion and the one that keeps me most busy to this day. I have also bred and still breed a large number of animals, including rabbits, hens, geese, ducks, donkeys, ferrets and goats. This passion for agriculture led me to go to an agricultural lycée at the age of 15, and then, after passing my baccalauréat, to continue my studies at an agricultural engineering school.

But it's not my only passion. I'm also a keen hunter, and I don't know if it's a good idea to write this knowing how controversial the practice is these days, but I'm not ashamed. I mainly hunt small or big game in drives, or migratory game such as ducks.

From a sporting point of view, I played rugby from the age of 11 to 19 in a club, then I stopped due to lack of time. I used to play occasionally with my school, but I hardly ever go any more. I've also been riding a motorbike since I was 11 and got my licence 2 years ago.

I'm also a big fan of community involvement, and throughout my time at school I've had the opportunity to get involved in various associations. Starting with my secondary school's student office, where I was vice-president. Later, when I arrived at school, I had access to a large number of different associations, and I got involved in the DIY club, the hunting and fishing club, the beer club and the students' home.

Finally, another passion that also explains why you're reading this today and why I love DIY. Ever since I was little, I've loved touching things, taking apart anything I can get my hands on, repairing damaged objects or making things. When I was 16, for example, I took my parents' old motorbike out of the garage. It had been sitting there for 21 years; the engine had seized up, the carburettor had seized up and the fuel tank was oxidised. I wanted to fix it so that I could ride it when I was 18, but of course everyone told me it was impossible, so it took me two years longer than expected, but today it's running again.

Me

Why I'm doing FabAcademy?

It's precisely because of my passion for DIY that I wanted to do this course. I always have ideas but I sometimes lack the technical knowledge to put them into practice. I'll come out of this course with a lot more technical knowledge than I had before and I think and hope that it will be very useful in my future life.
