About me

Hi! I am Ronan Bolaños. I am an architect and an academic based in Mexico City working on computational design for over twenty years. I have already worked in parametric and generative design, digital fabrication, and web design for over a decade in the Facultad de Arquitectura UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico).

You can visit our work at the lab here!

My background

I was born and raised mainly in Mexico City. I have lived twice in the US and I have also lived in Barcelona Spain.

Previous work

I have worked in Architectural design and Construction management of different size and use buildings since 2000. When living in Barcelona I worked in Toyo Ito’s office for about two and a half years, this and other offices gave me the traning to settle our own office back in Mexico City.

On the other hand, I have taught in LaSalle University and Anahuac University, both in Mexico City, and currently I work as full professor at UNAM, where I have being assembling courses, workshops, fabricating installations and objects related to the built environment that pursue digital technology applied in education, design and fabrication. With this in mind I have worked since six years ago in the development of our lab LATE , which stands for Laboratorio de Arquitectura + Diseño y Tecnología Experimental, intended to become a Fablab and looking forward to become also a Fablab node someday.

ARGA Module · Recent work in progress

Recently I have been working in a project for temporary shelter that is able to manage water in many different ways. Capturing rain, treating gray and waste water, filtering through organic, physical and chemical processes among others. This project might need a major advance at the same time as fab academy.
