Invention, Intellectual Property and Income

This week we deal with aspects related to intellectual property, project dissemination strategies, as well as some ideas that may contribute to a possible investment in the development of the final project.

Well, these are the ideas that can contribute to the further development of the "MoliNito" project.

Licence

MoliNito is the result of the iteration of several projects reviewed on various platforms such as Autodesk Instructables, and one of the main ones has the CC license: Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International(CC BY-SA 4.0). Therefore, the license of choice is Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

In general terms, it is a license that allows sharing, copying and redistributing the project by any means, as well as adapting it, transforming it or building derivative products, as long as it is attributed to the licensor, which is not used for commercial purposes.

Plan for dissemination

As a dissemination plan for the project, I am thinking of two possible ways to promote MoliNito:

  1. One, within the Industrial Design career, where I teach in the Graphic area. However, I can make MoliNito available to the sixth semester Product Design course, where they study and develop household appliances. As MoliNito is an interesting component for the kitchen of a coffee fanatic, it can be an object on which students can develop and improve design and functionality from the academic environment.
  2. The other space for dissemination is through contact with local coffee shops, which may be interested in having a customized product.

Financial Opportunities

In terms of financing, the crowdfunding strategy is quite attractive. For this, once some instances of the project have been iterated and the costs have been adjusted, it is possible to apply to some platforms (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Gofundme) or create a website. For this it will be necessary to plan the project in detail in order to capture the attention of investors.

However, for its use in the academic environment, it will be appropriate to carry out a joint project with the aforementioned chair, to generate an activity (bootcamp or hackathon type), and obtain the necessary material resources to generate new prototypes based on MoliNito.
