About me

Hello!! My name is Dariyah Strachan. I’m 16 and a proud sophomore at Charlotte Latin School. I have attended Charlotte Latin for 5 years and participated in several engineering-related programs over the years. I’ve always had a strong passion for engineering, math, and science, my strongest subjects in school. I am very excited to start Fab Academy and further explore my engineering capabilities afterward.

My background

I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 6. Constantly changing schools almost every 2 years was difficult for me, but the pride I took in engineering was unchanging.

Previous work

From the ages of 7-11, I went to several STEM-related programs like Project Scientist and Girls Who Code. I started engineering in the Fab Lab in 7th grade with Innovation & Design I. The following year I took Innovation and Design II while also competing in E-Cybermission in 2020. During the 2020 E-cybermission competition, My team, consisting of me, Ginny Foster, and 2 others, won the local, state, and regionals, making it to nationals and placing top 5. The following year I took Intro to Engineering where I learned the basics of how to operate the machines in the Fab Lab. In the first semester of sophomore year, I took Electrical Engineering, where I learned the fundamentals of electrical engineering including Ohm’s law, circuit analysis, 555 timers, C++, Arduino, etc. I am currently taking bioengineering where I will further learn how to use CAD and 3D printing.
