FabTar : Electrical guitar with drums pads into the body of the guitar

Why a project with a guitar and drums ?

I play the drums since I’m 6 and learned the guitar by myself at 18, I love the fingerstyle technic. Players like Chet Atkins, Marcel Dadi, Tommy Emmanuel or Josh Turn guitar inspires me. They all evolved their technic to be able to play the bass as well as the melody at the same time. They even play the drums by striking on the guitar body. I’m not as skilled as they are so I want to be able to play the drums from a loop.

Why this shape ?

Needless to say that for an electrical guitar you don’t need to resonate the chords with the body. So we can make pretty much any shape, the only matter is that the guitarist is comfortable playing the guitar. The shape of the body reminds the F coming from the FabTar which is an homage to the Fabacademy where this guitar will be designed.

Research

To start my research I looked into the previous fabac’ projects about guitars :

Ben Matthes - Fabacademy 2015

Vilhjalmur Magnusson - Fabacademy 2016

Thordur Hjalmarsson - Fabacademy 2020

This last project clearly is close to what I want to do, since he wants to play the guitar while having a drum loop. My project is a bit different though, because I want to incorporate the drum pad into the guitar body for the performance aspect.

the next project really inspires me in term of appearance :

For the drum part :

Creation of pads / V-drums with piezo

Creation of a whole e-drum set

DIY e-drum can pad

Drum synthetiser with raspberry

Arduino minimal drum kit This tutorial has a lot of feature interesting to me
