Part two : Groupe assignment

Part Three : Individual project

1. What tasks have been competed

The mechanism is completed i.e the box and the cube has been build and all the necessary component and module have been integrated.

  • Electronics

  • Electronics cube

  • Mechanics

  • the box

  • Programming

2. What tasks remain ?

After FabAcademy is finished, I would like to develop cubes that can move through the forest to retrieve data.

3. What has worked ? What hasn’t ?

What has worked ?

  • we were able to make all the cubes we designed communicate using the MQTT protocol

  • we were able to collect data from the various sensors on each cube

  • we could display the different sensor values and control the actuators of each cube through an interface we designed

  • we were able to make our glue cubes autonomous thanks to a lithium battery.

What hasn’t ?

At the start of the project, we wanted to integrate an event database to recollect our data, such as influx dB for example. However, we had some problems with implementation, which is why we decided to work on it after the end of the Fab Academy.

4. What questions need to be resolved?

  • Is it possible to have a cube that can move across a field?

5. What will happen when ?

  • Final Project presentation. The presentation is on 9-June 2023 at 16:47:00 EDT

6. What have you learned?

  • How to manage time

  • How to model with Fusion360, SOLIDWORKS

  • How to use a 3D printer

  • How to process with a laser cutter

  • How to design a PCB with kicad and eagle

  • Embedded programming like XIAO ESP32C3 and XIAO RP2040

  • How to use the MQTT communication protocol
