WEEK 17 - mechanical design, machine design


INTRODUCTION

Actually, this is one of the best weeks for me, a week full of challenges and full of motivation, also yet we cannot access our lab and access our machines, materials, and components.

Assignment Description

    group assignment:

  • design a machine that includes mechanism+actuation+automation
  • build the mechanical parts and operate it manually
  • document the group project and your individual contribution

Idea and Approach


As we agreed as a team, I took the mechanical design part with my colleague Mansour. so, you can go to our group assignment to view it in full here

  • Initially we had to research to understand how it works, so we went with some videos and websites to do that
  • and we decided to go to through this open-source design here for william

Design


the full design was not provided. So that it was a really good chance to do some work on the design and to get to complete it ourselves. The part we had missing was the right hand side egg support and the mechanism to loosen / tighten it.

  • we use Fusion360 to design
  • open Fusion and upload your orginal file.
  • Set the suitable view for you
  • to design the hold right shaft, choose sketch then select your plane, and sketch circle "with the Diameter of bearing - .1mm"
  • then extrude it
  • from Create select thread to make it threaded
  • Holder design: sketch newcircle on the front of the shaft, extrude it, and thread it from inner
  • To ensure you done, take a section, so make plane and choose section analysis
  • I made mirror to take the cap from the left side
  • finally make holes to istall my holder
