My name is Jill Hartley Yokota and my background is in design, art and technology. My career has included positions in management, sales, start-ups, non-profits, design and education.
I received my MFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. My thesis was an LED wall controlled by custom hardware and software that explored light, perception and volume.
In the summer of 2013, I was fortunate to attend Haystack and took a class in 21st century jigmaking. While there, I used the FabLab to create forms to bend wood and made wenge light pendants (click Haystack, 2013 for a video of my time there).
I am married with two kids and a bunch of pets and live in Milan, New York in the beautiful Hudson Valley (about 100 miles north of NYC.) I am happy to call Providence my “home away from home!”
