    HEllo again to my humble page, this week, we will work on another subject;Applications and Implications

    Here, we will answer some quistions that will make the project clear to all makers and readers of theis website

  • one by one, let's answer them:

    What will it do?

    to make it simple, this desk+chair help me to set and work in more healthy way.

    t should help my backpain, neck pain to be fixed, and remaind my of the way I am sitting; if correct or not by notefications,light, sound or other ways

    the chair and the desk will have distance sensors to measure and make sure that I am sitting on the correct positon from my screen and laptop

    also, for my back and neck, ther will be sensors to measure if they are positioned in a healty way or curved in a weird way......"normally, I set in a very uncomfortable way and I will not noticed until I sense the pain!"

    the desk may have some smart fetures like auto light when using it, extra self cooling laptops setup with human power sourse power, maybe with generating power with bicycle pedals

    more could be added, depends on how the lockdown goes,....for now, I will use what I have, can not go out, and shipping is taking weeks to almost a month in KSA (this desk will be build in my home)

    Who's done what beforehand?

    normally, when you buy a desk for work we look for a good one, with a lot of space.............BUT furtunattly!!, my company wehnt from closed offices to open space working enviruoment.

    my desk it samll now, and from time to time , I may borrow an extra desk to work, and my office will be an L shape..... so I need to rotate alot.

    this is not a problem if I am sitting in the correct way with a strait back..... and here comes the problem: I sit like a mosnter !!!

    can not really describe it... but a snake or a cat way of sitting will be the closest way to describe it!

    so, what others have done to fix this?

    health desk chair with comfy cushions, just set, and you will sleep ... thats is most likly me, to comfy and I may sleep.

    the one that I have in office is almost like this one:

    for me, the problem is not with the chair, but in forgetting how to set in a healthy way for a long time

    this company made a smart posture alert device to gice you a aleart or notification on your phone when you sitting in unhealthhy way , check the link for the company upright pose

    What will you design?

    since I am sitting home, and can not go to my office to work on the desk, I will do the design and build on my home, I have an offic chair in it, but not office desk. so I will start wiht designing the desk and try to build it with what I have in the storage in the stairs whaer house; wood palte and other things... I will try to build the desk my self, I always wanteted to try this on my own...>_< hope it will work.

    What materials and components will be used?

    mostlly from home, I will try tom build almost everything from howm, knowing that oilne servesice is very bad now and it will take very long time

  • and try to order some electronics online, but just to know, it will take a loooooog time from 3 weeks and more........
  • How much will they cost?

    if we are talking about home, sweet home, then 0$.... no cost here beacuse I will try to build everything home.

    Total cost = 326$ USD

     

    normally I would buy the electronics parts from a chaina from a good source and much lower price, but KSA is not allowing any thing to come from Chaina...

    What parts and systems will be made?

    first will be a system to detect my posture whiel sitting, it will containe a sensors and notification system

    second is 3D designed chair Accessories to add parts to it for sensors, may also add some cooling system ? will try....

    also I will try to make the system more smart with a good light and try to generate some power from the bicycle by adding a motor to it(using it as generator) , and generate some power and extra things.

    most improtant thing is to build the desk from the parts in the warehouse... lets try and see>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> wish me a good luck!

    What processes will be used?

    3D printing and 3D designing the Accessories for the chair (Additive fabrication)

    hand soildering, to build the lectrical circuits

    for now, arduino microcontroller and c++ programing to make the controlling system

    drilling and wood cutting to make the table (Subtractive fabrication)

    building a generator to gaine pwoer from the bicycle and sorce some power to the desks

    add all the assembly and design as a documentation process to make everything clear and simple

    always run test of the process step by stem to make sure that everything is connected in the right way and the system is running + inculde the final test befor presenting the project

    What questions need to be answered?

    the main question will be , how will this setup help my to fix my bad happets of bad and unhealth sittings postures?

    and for me, how will I build it in this tight, no resources condition with very long shipping dates and use home resources? and that is the funny and exciting part for DIY !

    How will it be evaluated?

    in a simple way:

  • no more strange sitting way.....> means that the system is working fine and it is helping me to corrct my sitting postures// and my back pain is gone or became better
  • and one more thing......... for the time and schedule, you need to Excuse me ON THAT........after covid + lockdown + loooong shping time even locally in KSA. it is almost imposible to set a schedule

    but we can make it simple.... I am working on the design 3D design of the chair support and other things now for the final project, and I almost done with the final circuit board on Eagle software....almost in the last steps... but the problem is the date of the end of lockdown in the contry. I have contacted the fablab and they told me that it may need 2 weeks from my to do my final project work, or maybe more!.... but untill the lockdown is over, I will try my best to finish all designs for the final project

    for time managment, this cycle of the academy was kind of crazy, some time we could go to the lab, some time we wnnd to stay home and image working on the machine,,,,or something, and for that, I went with this schedule:

    -design the main physical parts of the project : MAY 20 >> MAY 31

    -build the table MAY 5 >> MAY 9

    -build the physical parts using the tools in the lab and my 3D printer in my house : JUNE 1 >> JUNE 20

    -desing the pcb + coding and testing the system : JUNE 1 >> July 20

    - woking on the fianl project video and presentaion and finish the missing parts of the previous weeks : July 21 >> July 31

    -try to stay home and stay safe : the second half of the entire academy
