Group Assignment
The Kannai team as usual was divided into two and i worked with Ahmad Tijjani Ishaq
The task is to.
- Design a machine that includes mechanism+actuation+automation+application;
- Build the mechanical parts and operate it manually;
- Document the group project and your individual contribution;
- Actuate and automate your machine;
- Document the group project and your individual contribution.
We were successful in buiding a good pen plotter and below is a slide and short video on it.

Assignment for the week is to document my contribution on the machine design.
We develop our penplotter machine on the following segments:
- Assembly of frame
- Incorporation of electronics
- Coding
Assembly of frame
After obtaining materials as shown in Our group assignment page i actively assemble the parts.
- I fixed the Aluminum extrusions into the rectangular shape of the core-XY by tightening with The delta socket, t-slots and socket head screws and then attached the motor holders.
- I attached the motors to the frame, glued the legs part and attached the legs to the frame
- I fixed the bearing onto the pulleys using the bench vice and attached the pulleys to the motors
- Spacers,Rails and pen plotting head were then inserted
- Thread was added and that concludes the mechanical assembly
Incorporation of electronics
I took part in soldering components to the already milled electronic circuits boards. I also soldered wires to the limit switch pins. After soldering and testing, i incorporated the circuits to the machine to complete it.
Coding
I contributed little to the coding aspect, i test run servo individually using the modular thing website.
