Assignment

This week assignment is :

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.

  • Prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) and put them in your root directory

Plan for dissemination of final project

My main aim at the end of the fabacademy is to share my knowledge with secondary school pupils through the creation of science clubs and more specifically electronics clubs in schools. The aim is to awaken in these students their creative genius and familiarize them with the world of the fablab so that in the next five or ten years we can have a strong community of makers in Togo. One of my goals is also to be able to share this knowledge with students living in rural areas or remote villages. My fabacademy website will also be available, as will my video presentation of my final project for any useful purpose.

To market my product, I plan to sell it to local authorities, municipalities and universities, as well as schools, so that they can install it in their various environments to raise awareness of the need to keep the environment clean. I’m also thinking of setting up a rental system for large events so that participants can keep the environment clean by using the garbage cans, which they can easily locate and use.

  • How much are you going to sell them to municipalities and universities, as well as schools ?

For the moment, the final price is not yet definite, as we’re only at the first spiral of the project. We’ll be making improvements to functionality in the next spiral, and if the results are conclusive, then depending on the market and the cost of raw materials and production, we’ll set the price. One thing’s for sure: the price for schools will be within their reach.

  • Are you going to build each unit yourself?

No. To reduce production costs, we’re going to mass-produce them according to demand. To do this, we’ll be turning to manufacturers.

  • How many units do you think you can sell?

For the moment, we can’t give an exact figure, as this would require market research. But the need is there.

  • Will you organize workshops in schools to build and assemble them ?

Honestly, we hadn’t thought of it that way, but now we’re also planning to organize digital manufacturing activities for students, who will then be able to produce their own garbage cans for use in their schools.
