Applications and Implications

Introduction

In this week we are asked to propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered, answering a series of questions listed below.

What will it do? Detect unauthorized drone flights
Who's done what beforehand? Currently unauthorized flights are detected on spot. Authorization process includes signing up on form that contains route of the flight for limited duration only.
What will you design? A piece that is attached to all drones that enter the country that will act as a tracker and communicate constantly to the authority station to report any unauthorized flights
What materials and components will be used? GPS sensor, SIM module
Where will come from? Fablab
How much will they cost? Does not exceed 100$
What parts and systems will be made? The detection device, i called it the Black Box of the drone, which will be attached to drones
What processes will be used?
  • 3D printing for enclosure
  • Milling for PCB
  • Soldering for components
What questions need to be answered?
  • How will it detect that the drone is flying?
  • How will the receiver side input the list of approved flights with duration?
  • How to detect that the drone is flying above the approved level?
  • How to detect whether it is flying near the no fly-zones (UAE airports outer fence, Heliports, Helicopter landing Sites, and airfields or in controlled zones), should it be incorportated with the UAE Drone fly zone map?
How will it be evaluated? If the system can detect unauthorized drone flights and can communicate them to the receiver side (authority in real life), it means it is successful
