Smart Livestock Management
With Smart Livestock Management, users can remotely control watering and feeding!
My name is Hanna Ondrasek, and I recognize that feeding and watering livestock are two of the most difficult tasks in an animal husbandry system. While automation seems to be the most obvious answer to this issue, assembling an automated feeding/watering system can be daunting and non-remotely controllable.
This Fab Academy project, Smart Livestock Management, aims to be remotely controllable and easy and inexpensive to set up. The most basic design will involve a waterer with a hose attachment that has an attached Arduino Grove sensor to detect if water levels are too low, and will turn on the hose with a servo motor if so. Feed levels will be controlled with an app/web application and a silo-style feeder with a trapdoor. People raising livestock are free to do other tasks and even take short vacations without needing a sitter for their animals.
