Hello!
My name is Saskia Helinska and I'm currently a student in Art and Media Master's programme at Aalto University, Finland.
I have a background in Graphic Design, having studied at Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland. I did exchange studies at Aalto Media Lab, the same that I returned to now, in order to complete the degree.I first got introduced to fab labs and maker movement at Aalto Fab Lab in 2016. From then on, I've tried to be involved - I did an internship at RUC Fab Lab at the Roskilde University in Denmark and later on I started work at Fab Lab Berlin.
In 2021 I enrolled to Fabricademy post-graduate programme at Fab Lab Barcelona, where I took a journey at the intersection between textiles, digital fabrication and biology', where I could focus more on embodied interaction, physical interfaces in the context of wearables. I developed a project on pneumatic actuators and haptic feedback, which I'm hoping to continue working on.
So here I am now, back at Aalto Fab Lab, where it all started for me 7 years ago and influenced my life in many ways. Thank you all, whom I met on my way and who helped make it happen!
