Update: Final decision¶
Because music umbrella is challenging for many parts: - need to be water proven - able to fold and open again - need to be lightweight and easy to carry - require some knowledge to compose music
I’m not that good at music (just love it) and these factors are hard to achieve, therefore I pivot again to make a Interactive Chinese checkers . And finally decide to make a interactive boardgame (Elf & Beanstalk 2.0) Documentaation page.
Update new idea: Music umtrella¶
After some suggestion from my instructor about the mobility of final project (can bring and show it in the lab), I got pivoted.
Basically, this is an umbrella, but with different meaning and imagination.
- Tree: give human shelter
- Music: let human express emotions
Sometimes, when walking alone home at night in rainy day, it feels bad. But with music umtrella, you can feel like tree is protecting you, and the rain is singing to you. You are not alone, there’s hope!
- Components: stem, branch, leaves
- Electric parts: press sensor, speaker, blutooth connector

This week I came up with 2 ideas of final project.
- Automatic curtain timer
- Remote switch controller
Automatic curtain timer¶
Do you have a problem to wake up every morning? I do.
The dilemma is: I found myself hard to sleep with street light in my room, but if I use cucrtain, no sunlight to wake me up.
That’s why I want to create a “Automatic curtain timer”. With a sunlight sensor or a build-in timer, it’s able to scroll up in the morning and let the sun wake me up.
This is my primary chioice of final project. But some obstacles need to be conquer, such as the weight of curtain (too heavy).
Remote switch controller¶
Do you have a problem with mosquitos at night? I do.
The dilemma is: Every time mosquitos come to meet me in darkness, I cannot see them. And when I walk to turn on light, they are gone.
That’s why I want to create “Remote switch controller” on my bedside. Once mosquitos come, I’ll easily turn on light on my bed. And mosquitos stand no chance to escape from my hand.
This is my secondary chioice of final project. Mosquitos are terrible, but being late for some important meetings are even worse.
