16. Wildcard Week¶
Assignment
Design and produce something with a digital fabrication process (incorporating computer-aided design and manufacturing) not covered in another assignment, documenting the requirements that your assignment meets, and including everything necessary to reproduce it.
I decided to work on a final project taking advantage of this task.
Create the upper lid of the head or called skullcap
Design in fusion 360 some equilateral triangles function file
I laser cut the design and obtained several cardboard triangles to build the mold and thus build the shell.

The shape I got was not exactly what I wanted and taking advantage of that shape I decided to make a mold that recreated an “Arab turban”
To the original mold I added newspaper to reach the desired format
To create my turban I used polyester resin
synthetic resins - Polyester. - Polyurethane. - Epoxy resin. - Acrylics. - Vinyl ester.
Polyester resin is a thermosetting unsaturated polymer resin, which is formed from the reaction between organic acids and polyhydric alcohols. It is used for various domestic and industrial uses.
Can be used in many different ways. They have a place in water tanks, sculptures, in the nautical sector, in the manufacture of bumpers, molding, among other uses. One of its most outstanding characteristics is its great resistance capacity, something that prolongs its useful life.
It is important to protect yourself with gloves, do it in a well ventilated area (very strong smell) and protect the floor with cardboard, paper or wood.

What I learned ? I learned about the existence of different types of synthetic resin and its applications in home projects and in the industry
