Week 20.PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

what is the deadline? How much time do I have left?

The deadline for my presentation is on the 19th of June. By 16th I will be able to complete the Project and then I will have some time to complete the documentation by the deadline.

what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?

I have completed the electronics design section for the project. I have milled the PCB and soldered the components. The mechanical design section, as well as programming parts, are still remaining.

how will I complete the remaining tasks in time?

I will complete the mechanical design as soon as possible so I will have enough time to complete the programming section of the project as well as the documentation.

what has worked? what hasn't?

The final board of the project is completed and tested after soldering the components. I can control the stepper motors using the DRV8834 drivers with my board. Electronics production took lots of time than expected due to milling issues. Even I tried chemical etching process but it did not work well so I had to use milling machine to make my board.

what questions still need to be resolved?

I have to figure out a mechanical design which can mount a stepper motor on top of another. Moreover making of mobile application which can control the rotation of the stepper motors still remains.

what have you learned?

The project management was one of the most important things I learned among the other basic process and techniques of digital fabrication such as 3D design and printing, Laser cutting, electronics production...etc. Specially for the final project I used 3d design and printing, Electronics design and production, vynal cutting, embedded programming. The supply time management and spiral development have been important learning sections to complete all the assignment. Leaning to use different tools and machines were important for me as it was one of the reasons I joined the fab academy.
