Week 1: Principles and Practices

I had a bumpy start to my learning on the principles and practices tasks, with my computer not wanting to to operate with Mercurial and it resulted in my work being delayed towards the end of the first week. This required a system update which worked and I could procede. The aim was to get us up and running with the essentials and to introduce us to Facadacemy practices.

Week 1: Project Management & Assignment

The assignment for this week was to get up and running with tools for project management and to build a personal website in the class archive describing you and your final project. I found Brackets, an open source text editor for web design. This enabled me to work directly on the code and to have a real-time connection with the chrome browser that I am using. Also I harnessed Dash, that teaches HTML, CSS, and Javascript through projects you can do in your browser, and Sip, that instantly samples and encodes any color on your screen.

The setting up of the website was a pleasant activity, I found a basic template for Brackets, that I adjusted to my needs and changed by re-writing the code. Then I wrote my own code to for entering text and images, links and references. It was accessible and it felt easy to manage.

Plans for next Week

I need to practice the operations for getting stuff onto the local server. I will look for info on light sensitivity and sensors, light sensitive materials and black light.
