Quick-Reference Operator Card
1. Pre-Flight Safety & Prep Checklist
- [ ] PROTECTIVE GEAR: Put on safety glasses when removing support structures or using flush cutters.
- [ ] VENTILATION: Ensure the internal enclosure door is kept closed and filtration is active when printing ABS, ASA, or composite filaments.
- [ ] BUILD PLATE PREP: Clean the flexible PEI plate with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and a lint-free wipe. (Never use metal scrapers on PEI surfaces).
- [ ] CHAMBER CLEARANCE: Verify the build plate is seated flush against magnetic locators and the motion path is free of loose debris or purged plastic blocks.
2. Standard 5-Step Print Workflow
- MOUNT / VERIFY FILAMENT Load spools into the AMS unit or rear manual holder. Verify the desiccant pack inside the AMS is active (dry).
- SLICE IN BAMBU STUDIO Select the matching nozzle size (0.4\text{ mm} default) and filament profile. Verify overhang angles (\le 45^\circ) and enable tree supports if needed.
- SEND JOB & ASSIGN AMS SLOTS Click Print Plate. Map your slicer filament colors/materials to the corresponding AMS slot numbers.
- ENABLE AUTO-CALIBRATION Check Bed Leveling and Flow Dynamic Calibration for high-precision or critical first-layer prints.
- VERIFY FIRST LAYER Observe the prime line and complete first layer before stepping away.
3. Filament & Hardware Constraints
| Filament Type |
AMS Compatible? |
Bed Temp |
Nozzle Temp |
Key Operational Rule |
| PLA / PLA-CF |
✅ Yes |
35^\circ\text{C} - 55^\circ\text{C} |
210^\circ\text{C} - 230^\circ\text{C} |
Leave top glass lid vented to prevent heat creep. |
| PETG |
✅ Yes |
70^\circ\text{C} - 80^\circ\text{C} |
230^\circ\text{C} - 250^\circ\text{C} |
Must be thoroughly dried; clean plate with IPA to ensure release. |
| TPU (Flexible) |
❌ NO |
30^\circ\text{C} - 50^\circ\text{C} |
220^\circ\text{C} - 240^\circ\text{C} |
BYPASS AMS. Feed directly from rear spool holder. |
| ABS / ASA |
✅ Yes |
90^\circ\text{C} - 100^\circ\text{C} |
250^\circ\text{C} - 270^\circ\text{C} |
Keep door and lid fully closed; enable internal air filter. |
4. Rapid Troubleshooting & Maintenance
| Symptom / Issue |
Cause |
Immediate Corrective Action |
| First Layer Lifting / Warping |
Finger oils on plate or incorrect bed temp. |
Wash PEI plate with warm water & dish soap, dry, then wipe with 99% IPA. |
| Extruder Clicking / No Extrusion |
Nozzle clog or heat creep. |
Heat hotend to 250^\circ\text{C} and perform a cold pull or unclog with needle. |
| AMS Filament Feed Error |
Brittle/swollen filament or guide tube drag. |
Inspect AMS funnel for broken filament bits; replace bent PTFE tubing. |
⚠️ HOT SURFACE HAZARD: Nozzle (300^\circ\text{C}) and bed (100^\circ\text{C}) reach severe burn temperatures. Wait for the bed to drop below 40^\circ\text{C} before removing parts. Report mechanical noises, damaged PTFE tubes, or nozzle clogs to lab staff immediately.
