Salam, I’m Sarah, A maker at heart & Lifelong Learner
Making has always been more than a skill to me; it’s a way of exploring, understanding, and bringing ideas to life. Over time, I drifted away from that space, and joining Fab Academy is my way of returning to it. This journey is about reconnecting with curiosity, embracing the process, and rediscovering the joy of making. Here, you’ll find my explorations, experiments, and projects along the way.. (more about me).
Weekly Assignments
Principles and Practices
Draft the idea for the final project, what will it do and sketch your idea.
Project Management
Build a personal website for documentation, and work through git tutorial.
Computer-Aided Design
model (raster, vector, 2D, 3D, render, animate, simulate, ...) a possible final project.
Computer-Controlled Cutting
design, lasercut, and document a parametric construction kit, accounting for the lasercutter kerf.
Embedded Programming
Write and test a program for an embedded system using a microcontroller to interact (with input &/or output devices).
3D Scanning and Printing
design, document, and 3D print an object that could not be made subtractively.
Electronic Design
use an EDA tool to design an embedded microcontroller system using parts from the inventory, and check its design rules for fabrication.
Comuter Controlled Machining
use a CNC for fabrication.
Electronic Production
Make and test an embedded microcontroller system that you designed.
Input Devices
Input.
Output Devices
Output.
Networks and Communications
design, build, and connect wired or wireless node(s) with network or bus addresses and local input &/or output device(s).
Molding and Casting
Design a mold around the process you'll be using, produce it with a smooth surface finish that does not show the production process toolpath, and use it to cast parts.
