Applications and implications

This week's mission is to answer some ofthe questions. These questionsare intended to highlight the function, parts, cost, and process involved in my final project. In addition, they will allow us to better understand and describe the objectives of our final project. Among these questions we have:

What will he do?

The aim of the project (smart bin) is to reduce the rate of waste in my country and more specifically in workplaces and public spaces (markets, hospitals, etc.).

Who did what before?

There are models of smart trash that I have come across in my research. My goal is to be inspired by existing ones so that mine is completer and more adapted to my environment.

What will you design?

For my project I intend to design everything.
  • The body of the dustbin;
  • PCB;
  • Case;
  • Code ;
  • Power supply management.

What materials and components will be used?

Materials
  • Plexiglas ;
  • PCB;
  • Wires and connectors;
  • Paumelles;
  • Belts.
Components
  • Module ESP8266 ;
  • LED;
  • Ultrasonic sensor;
  • Level detector;
  • Module GSM ;
  • Various resistors, capacitors, switches and buttons.

Where will they come from?

Most of these materials are available in the inventory of FabLab. For now, all of them will come from KeoLab.

How much will they cost?

  • The target is less than 100,000 CFA francs or 161.32 USD.
  • Actual price: Determined in the coming days.

What parts and systems will be manufactured?

  • The entire automatic control system;
  • The body of the plexiglass bin;
  • The protective case of the system will be 3D printed.

What processes will be used?

  • Laser cutting for plexiglass;
  • Modela MDX50 for PCB;
  • Welding;
  • 3D printing for the protective case;
  • Molding and casting with ShopBot for the wheels;
  • Arduino IDE for programming.

What questions need to be answered?

  • Will the bin be autonomous?
  • How do I know the trash can is full?
  • How to locate the full bin?
So many questions that we will have to answer at the end of the project.

How will it be evaluated?

The evaluation of the project will be based on the successful integration of the techniques mentioned above. I want my project to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The proper functioning and importance of the project will determine evaluation.
