QUESTION 1 : WHAT WILL IT DO?

I want to make a low-cost milk quality checker. I will use this device to educate, disseminate, and improve small-medium enterprise especially group of farmers who produce goat milk. In a limited time, however, it will not be possible to implement all the functionalities, so the minimum requirements for amazing devices are to be able to facilitate our stakeholder demands.

Another important activity that has been identifying are:

  • goat handling management in product handling, waste and quality of goat’s milk (especially monitoring pH and temperature as variable)

  • Standard pH meter and digital thermometer mechanism (on the market)

  • Technical and financial to disseminate low-cost-quality checker and digital fabrication for society (group of farmers/goat milk producers).

  • What is the best/suitable design for casing using CAD; label and accessories using laser cutter or vynil cutter; electronic components and connection (also wiring); programming; input-output devices; networking; and interface.

QUESTION 2 : WHO HAS DONE WHAT BEFOREHAND?

  1. Since I plan to make pH-meter and temperature measurement, including the IoT (internet of things) system, I started reading the data sheet on how work with ITtiny 3216, ESP32, ESP8266, pH-meter, temperature sensor, and others to better understand what electronic components are integrated and how the sensor and their programming with the remote control.

QUESTION 3 : WHAT WILL YOU DESIGN? ?

  1. In the “3D Scanning and Printing” week I thought that I could make my own design for a casing. Rotating and preparing area (to store the sensor probes) to make it more compact and easier for users to store after use.

After carrying out measurements, experiments, and simulations; I realized that there were many errors and inconsistencies in the initial design. Especially the suitability of the size of the sensor that will be placed on the inside, the electronic circuit, the allowance, and the space for the battery to be used. I printed the casing as a simulation and trial for evaluation and improvement.

For practice it was good to try synchronize all the electronic components and their function to identify the level of acidity or basicity possessed by a substance or solution. Normal pH has a value of 7 while the pH value> 7 indicates that the substance has alkaline properties while the pH value <7 indicates acidic properties. pH 0 shows a high degree of acidity, and pH 14 shows the highest degree of alkalinity. pH Meter reads the pH and temperature values in a sample.

QUESTION 4 and 8: WHAT MATERIALS, COMPONENTS & PROCESSES WILL BE USED?

  1. It is planned to use PLA filament for frame production by 3D printer, some parts from acrylic for product name/tag (which will be installed in the case/frame) using laser cutter. It is also planned to use Li-ion batteries with at least 5V voltage and will be equipped with compatible battery holder. The electronic components to be used microcontroller ATtiny 3216 and ESP32 in PCB which is planned to be made by milling machine “MonoFab SRM-20”, while the power supply PCB core will be screws terminals. QUESTION 7 : WHAT PARTS AND SYSTEMS WILL BE MADE?

Main processor (ATtiny3216) and communication (IoT using ESP32) interface will be used and programming will be integrated into one board. This device is intended to be operated and develop a power supply board with the integration of batteries of the required capacity.

The sensor will be installed on the mainboard (with ATtiny 3216) using a ‘shield’ to replace the cable/minimize wiring, design neatness, and strengthen the physical connection between components. A buzzer will be used as a marker when the pH measurement result exceeds the specified threshold (6.5 - 6.8). I’m learning how to adjust the sensitivity of the measurement results.

QUESTION 9 : WHAT QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED?

  1. Will the planned design concept allow the the pH-meter and temperature set up and adjust to measure?

  2. Will it be possible to measure accurately and send the data using IoT?

  3. How accurately the sensors when we change the products (with different pH value and temperature) module respond to changes?

QUESTION 10 : HOW WILL IT BE EVALUATED?

  1. Ensuring mechanical systems work, appropriate design both 2D and 3D, electronics and how to integrate the components, programming, and push them into my web assignment.

  2. The next stage of success would be the device’s ability to measure the object, display the value, and send the information using IoT (ESP32) suitable for the operation of the milk quality checker.

  3. And make good and intersting presentation (in video or other media).... the part of the documentation should be so ready that anyone can give feedback, evaluation, and improvement.
