In this assignment we use fiber glass XD

this kind of material is amply used for many thing, for building decorative thing in a house, to build pools, body car parts, and in old days even for medical purposes like prosthesis...but for the moment we will learn how to use it. this is what happened

First we need something to model it, so i decide to do a kind of leaves and a maple leave and cut them with laser. and then i wanted to do a termoform to have a mold of the leaves. who the termoform works?.....this is how

this is the termoform machine were you have to put your master pieces in order to get a mold. in the upper part there are some resistors to heat the material which will be use to get the mold.

the heating time can be controlled depending which material will be used, for the one i used i need 5 minutes of heating

once the heating is ready we need to have everything ready to perform the termoform

we active the machine, and this are the results

and now we have a mold....Yeiii :)

now we proceed to the fiber glass....

i have to say it was a bit fun because the fiber let you play a bit with it, cutting and stick it as you want, but in order to stick it to the mold it need a resin and a catalyst

we need to be careful with these two component because the mix proportion we use will determinate how fast the mixture will endure, for the resin and catalyst i spend 50ml of resin with 20 drops of catalyst, this gives me an endure of 2 hr.

the more catalyst we use, the faster will get endure. so be careful!

Another important component is a lubricant, why?

because once the fiber glass with the resin is endure, this mixture will get so hardened that it is going to be sticked really hard to the mold, the use of the lubricant will prevent that, it will be really easy to get apart the piece of the mold. don't hesitate in use it ;)

now we proceed to cut the fiber glass into pieces, this to do easy the fill of the mold

and then we proceed to put the mixture of resin into the fiber

i know it looks ugly, but this is not the end of the process....
