Week 16 - Applications and Implications
At the beginning my final project was different but as the weeks progressed, I realized that I could make my robot and it was.
What will it do?
I began my project some weeks ago, I going to plan a "Wall-e Robot" like the film from pixar
I had to make the design and now I began to manufacture the robot, the assembly must be easy and It will have to be easy to reproduce by the students, this is my goal.
Who's done what beforehand?
When i searched in google I found many people who had done it, however many of them have the assembly components ready and they does not shown the process to manufacture, like the next link.
Instructable Wall-e robot
Well, I had to make the wall-e robot too, but the robot was done with metal and welding, really very dificult to reproduce so it had many dificulties with the weight and power source. But now I know how it will build, by example using the mechanical design, milling, laser cutter, embedded system, interface and programming.
What materials and components will be required?
There are many kind of materials for each stage of the project
For mechanical structure, i need :
- Plywood
- Acrilyc
- MDF
- chain
- polyamide
- Bolts and nuts
For Electronics components:
- Atmega328
- Atiny44
- Atiny45
- Raspberry pi B+
- a webcam
- some servomotors
- Two DC motors with gear
- ultrasonic sensors
- Infrared sensors
Where will they come from?
I will find many materials from the list above in a local shop, but some electronics devices in digikey shop, like the raspberry pi b+ and atmega but i think most of the electronics components are available at the fablab.
How much will it cost?

What parts and systems will be made?
I am going make all mechanical parts using the shopbot , laser cutter and
making composite material for the body of the robot.
the head of robot I am going make with MDF and acrilyc, but I think some pieces will be made in the makerbot for make some joint components.
What processes will be used?
For mechanical parts:
- - Milling with the shopbot
- - Cutting with the lase cutter
- - 3d printing with the makerbot
- - Design with Solidworks and Rhinoceros
- - Make composites materials
- - Programming the Interface in python or Processing
- - Make pcb in the Roland Modela MDX-20
What task need to be completed?
- - Optimize electronic pcb layout
- - Redesign the assembly robot
- - Write an application program interface
What questions need to answered?

How will it be evaluated?
Is a good question, but i think when my robot works, when the sensors an actuators get a good operation with the interface program.
