COMPOSITES

It was difficult for me because in my city i did not find the materials, so I had to buy in Lima but two weeks later.
For this task we first had to receive an extra class on using composite materials, study a little about fiberglass, carbon fiber, and natural fibers, I learned that the fibers must be positioned in the direction of maximum stress will make the composite material, with the help of Professor Samuel Charca Mamani , as I show in the video below.
As a first step I had to design the solidworks file in the body of my robot wall-e, then pass the DXF format that the software recognizes the shopbot machine, and perform machining as shown in the figure below.
The design was done in two parts, the first female mold and the male mold, the parameters was the same when I milling the playwood before, as I show in lafigura below.
Before passing the resin and fiberglass, first I spent wax on the plywood so that the resin does not stick, the result is shown in Fig.
Then I proceeded to put a layer of resin and then a layer of fiberglass, then another layer of resin and fiberglass other and finally cover with the molds and leave to dry under pressure for a period of 12 hours. Resin I used is shown in the figure, it was the catalyst to reduce the drying time. Before passing the resin and fiberglass, first I spent wax on the plywood so that the resin does not stick, the result is shown in Fig.
Finally when dried resin proceeded to remove the molds, but gave me the surprise that the plywood was stuck with the resin and the wax that had placed their work had not yet proceeded to the molds and turned off the resin had adhered much to just plywood in the corners and angles, I should have made my molds with curved and curved surfaces, the result can be seen in the figures below.
In my city was difficult to get some materials, as fiberglass, resin, It was bought in Lima.
