Computer-Controlled Machining

In this practice I worked with a wooden MDF 900 mm x 900 mm x 12 mm thick in order to use it for the final project.

It was decided to work with the AXYZ Model 4008 CNC router with a work area of 2440 mm x 1220 mm and a power of 10 HP.

The task was conducted in several stages:

    1. - I did the outline drawing of two types of geometry mats from Chiapas. The first one is more complex in geometry, as it has a             combination of squares and triangles, which made it more interesting, and the second one only has vertical lines with a certain                rate of     strokes.

ERROR

2. - Once the drawing in Corel Draw 12.0 of the two geometries was proceeded, it followed the intersection between both geometries to obtain a series of intersection points of this product, and in order to place some 6 mm aluminum poles at those points.

Download file Computer Controlled (trace).dxf

Download file Computer Controlled (trace).cdr (Original in Corel Draw)

3. - It was decided to record the trace of both geometries with a 1/16” tool, to have it as reference, and it will be made where the holes for the placement of the poles are.

4. - The drawing of the base and tops were made in Corel Draw 12.0 with the assembly method named dovetail, and with a separation of 100 mm performed alternately with the base and lids.

5. - The cutting of the base and tops of the exercise, which was a cajos MDF, was done with a straight 1/4'” tool.

6. - It was decided to record the Fab Academy logo with the laser Sprit GX 60 watt in order to give the project an identity.

For cutting  the CNC Corel Draw, the drawing was exported to a 12.0 PLT termination to be worked on CNC toolpath software, which is the interface between the two programs.

Once it was placed in the toolpath file were given  two different measures of penetration that needed cutting. The engraving was done with 1mm and 12mm cutting, and was cut according to the material.

The cutting material was placed and secured to the table router by a pump power of 10 HP through empty air.

Calibrating working heights were penetration height and material safety height with respect to the worktable.

The cutting speed was specify according to the material, for a work MDF with a feed rate of 8000 mm per minute, and a shear rate of 13000 rpm.

The cutting speed was not enough and the plates were obtained with an excess of material, which was removed with an accurate and sandpaper.

Final Project.
