1. Principles and Practices

This week: - Read the Fab Charter - Sketched your final projects idea/s - Described what it will do and who will use it

Fab Charter

It strikes me that the Charter is a well crafted document. My take is that the provisions found within are designed to foster dissemination of the Fab ‘Meme’. Something akin to an Open Source License, some of which I’m sure will have been used as reference during it’s writing.

Looking at sustainability for a lab, a revision might look at commercial activity more closely, for adjacent activity.

At a University those ‘Scheduled programmes’ means that we can run University modules aligned with Fab Academy without clashing with Fab principles, in fact aiding in the dissemination of Fab techniques in various modes.

Final Project

I’ve set up a separate page to talk about the Final Project. Yet Another Hydroponics System. Looking at creating a Kit of Parts, a lego kit for managing Agri Tech at different scales. Starting within a domestic setting, looking at growing to small and medium enterprise scales growing.

Getting Project Management underway

Also during this first week, having worked on defining my final project area, I started getting used to the documentation process.

I have decided to stick with the default mkdocs for the website. I’ll evolve the site as we go along, learning where the favicon lives etc.
