Computer controlled machining

This week we had to make "something big".
I decided to make a deck chair. After I finished sketching the chair in 2D I started to design the chair on rhino.

I tested it in a smaller scale to see if I had problems with the design that I was not aware of.

After realizing the problems and fixing them I started making the file for the milling machine "Shopbot".
I arranged the pieces in a way that it would fit one board. I chose the parts that I wanted to cut or drill together and divided them to layers.

I uploaded the file to the shopbot computer and set the origins X,Y and Z for my cut I used 1\4 inch flat end single float upcut mill . I organized my cuts or drills in the order I wanted.

I added tabs to the pieces.

After the machine finished I started potting together the pieces.
I had a problem assembling it together due to a mistake in the measurements. There for I decided to use a metal pole.
