Project development

This week's assignment is to go over the development of your project.
what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
what has worked? what hasn't?
what questions need to be resolved?
what will happen when?
what have you learned?

What tasks have bean complited and what tasks remin?

Up to now I completed :

  • Designed and 3D printed the wheels
  • Designed a board
  • Designing a 3D ball and print it.
  • Made an Arduino code that will control all of the feachers.
  • Designed the mount (balance system) that will hold all the parts of the project together.

  • The tasks that remin are :

  • Check if it's possible to use the 3D printed balls, if not buy clear plastic balls from any art store.
  • Check the mount, if its in the right length, what are the points I need to bend for the perspex so it will hold the motor in place.
  • Add a mic to the board is possible.

  • what has worked? what hasn't?

  • I have to admit that almost all my tasks are working really good except the 3D ball and the mic.
  • The 3D ball - you need a really good printer to be able to print a perfect and smooth ball from both sides, it takes 4 to 7 hours to print one.
It's a lot cheaper just to buy one from any art store.
  • Mic - I had a lot of problems with the schematics, and the designing the board.

  • What questions need to be resolved?

The maine question for me is:

  • Will the 3.7v battery handle all the components on the board.
  • Will the motor have enough power to spin the ball.

  • What have you learned?

  • Well I have learned everything - 2D and 3D design, 3D printing, scanning, laser cutting, CNC milling, electric design board and schematics, code rating.
I came to this course with no previous knowledge in digital fabrication and design.
It's a hard course that will make you sit down and learn for a lot by yourself.
    I still really recommend it.
