This week assignment is about mechanical and machine design, and we were requested to do the mechanical design for our final project. My final project is a controller for sound and dsp programing languages like Max/MSP or Pure Data, this means my project doesn't have mechanical parts and it isn't even a machine, so my assignment will be related to the case design and the circuit diagram for it.
Case Design:
I designed the case to be built from 8 layers of clear and black acrylic. The inside has enough space to allocate the main controller and wires, and there's a slot for placing the FTDI board fixed to that position without the need of bolts or screws.
I've also included slots for the seven segments display and the potentiometer.
All the layers are fixed together using nuts and bolts, the same goes for the touchpad. Below are the 2D and 3D images for the case. The files can be donwloaded here.
Circuit Diagram:
the controller board is designed to have group of pins for every peripherial including vcc and ground so you must double check your connections before plug the power otherwise you can fry your peripherial boards.
