My name is Gerhard Mattissen, I trained as a ceramist and as a carpenter. Afterwards I studied interior architecture and worked a few Years as freelancer. Later I had the opportunity to work as a teacher at a comprehensive school in Kamp-Lintfort/Germany.
I have been doing this job, which I really enjoy, for around 15 years now.
During the interior design studies I was already interested in experimental design, minimal design and design for cnc machines.
When I started teaching, I lost the thread in this area. Now, for a number of reasons, I want to resume it.
On the one hand, because I am interested in technology and I want to start designing again.
I think that I can achieve a high degree of autonomy in the manufacturing process here.
On the other hand, I see it as further training for my teaching profession.
I attend courses at FABLAB in Kamp-Lintfort with groups of pupils and develop lessons together with the lecturers. Furthermore, we will soon have a school FABLAB, where the contents of the Fabacademy prepare me for future school operations.
