14. Invention, intellectual property, and income

This week’s assignment is all about what’s going to happen with my work and the outcome of my final preject after I published it here on this website.

Dissemination

Some of my friends are also scuba divers like me and also because of the scuba diving club I’m a member of, I’m in contact with a lot of other scuba divers regularely. With some of them I already talked about my plans and the progress regarding my final project. The feedback I got from all of them is that there’s definitely a market for affordable DPVs. I was already asked if I could make three scooters for my friends.
I neither have an interest in making money with the commercial production of dive scooters nor by selling the “recipe”. But I am willing to show people how to make one themselves and to support them doing so. Maybe this might even end up as a net cost price workshop in the Green FabLab just to cover the material costs.

Licenses

Designs and ideas

To decide on a license I used the questionnaire on creativecommons.org. I want the intellectual property, the designs and the ideas to be open source under the conditions of Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) .

For the software I wrote, the following MIT copyright applies, wich I found at opensource.org:
