My final project

Making a DPV

Scuba diving is a hobby that I enjoy a lot. Childish as I sometimes am, for me it becomes even more fun with a toy like a DPV, a diver propulsion vehicle. I enjoyed using such a device to follow human powered submarines during a submarine race as a safety diver in the Mediterranean Sea.

My idea for the final project is to use different techniques learned during Fab Academy for making a DPV. It needs a waterproof hull that isn’t compressible so its buoancy isn’t affected by increasing pressure when using it at greater depths. The power to propell a diver comes from a lead acid battery. A motor controller will use the input signal, coming from a magnetic switch, and transfer it into an output signal, a propeller turning, driven by an electric motor.
