A cat friendly bench

cat friendly bench My final project is a cat friendly bench. This bench has an interactive tube inside. When the cat goes inside the tube aN ultrasonic sensor pick the cat up and some leds inside the tube will light up. desing This image shows how it has been design.

This is the actual state of it. The bench is been done for the "Make something big" assigment and this weekend I will do a composite with this mold: bigcomposite

As it is a two side mold, I would do each up/bottom side separately. I have started working on the interactive issues of the project and I have done a fabduino. Documentation in progress here: final project documentation

What will it do?

It will look something like this.

When the cat goes into the tube...

... the ultrasonic sensor HC - SR04 will pick it up and some leds placed at the front side of the bench will blink...

Once inside the tube...

...a led from the "handmade led stripe" will start lighting. It would simulated movement and the cat would run after the light.

... When the cat goes out of the tube, leds at the front side of the bench will blink again.

What materials and components will be required?

I am working on a bill of material here: BOM. It is still in progress.

Where will they come from?

Mainly from the Fab Lab inventory and from the material it is already at the Fab Lab. I only have to buy the cloth in a shop.

What questions need to be answered?

Is the cat interested in the bench? Would it run after the simulated movement of light from the led stripe? Would the cat like to be inside the tube?

22 may__ X TUBE DONE on composite + prototype handmade led stripe.

29 may__ All physical objects DONE. Prototype working.

How will it be evaluated?

A video will show how the prototype works.
