Week 11 - Break, Midterm Review

Some information

Because of the special situation of our lab, we did not keep up with the course for a long time. The following is an update at the end of June.

Final Phase - on 6.29th

I am updating this content on 6.29th, the day before submitting all of my assignments to the global.

I have just finished the last assignment, the big CNC machine.

And I have some final's works that need to be finished. Input code for last testing. And the integration parts. These should be done in short.

Final Phase - on 6.21st

My main topic - Balancing work and life, is coming to an end... Almost.

Finishing almost all assignments today and need the paper work. I am writing down my check list for myself:

Final Phase - on 6.8th

After Presentation...

Written on 2024.6.8th, I finished the presentation last night. Neil mentioned that I am missing some parts(indeed I am, no excuse). Later back to home, I was thinking and relizing that I made some hugh mistakes. I did have done a lot things, but they all related to the User Interfaces and module communication. I even spent almost 5 days to work on the prensation video.

My Mistakes
  • I should know what is important to a matter. For me and for the presentation, it is the completion, by some requirements(check list). I don't need to present the "big idea" and how much I learnt and done, it is not an investment conference, it is not a competition, it definitely not a story sharing session.
  • When it comes to DDL, I should not put extra efforts on something I am not familiar with - I am new to the video clip, I nearly spent 5 days on it and didn't do much things about the input and integration about the final. Even the output is not showing very well.
Yeah...
  • I still need to learn about product management and project management.
    • What is my final product eventually look.
    • What functions can I achieve giving three weeks left.
    • What help / resources can I get from.
  • Balancing work and life is my main topic publishing this product and I should be the one example.
    • Things at the company should keep going according to the schedule.
    • The assignments and final look are should be done before the DDL.

To sum up, I need to start now, scheduling what I have done and tracking them.

What I am missing❓ and the solution✅

Final Project

  • Finishing the input part, the voice recording and audio file transfer, make it quick
    • Solution: ransfer the audio data to text and put the text into the LLM.
    • Need to do now: Design a circuit board, using CNC cutting. And design a case, using 3D printing.
    • Currently not thinking the carrier function(SD card usage).
  • Enhancing the output part, the TFT display
    • Solution: Reading the calendar data from reComputer, through MQTT, display the format text on a TFT display from week9.
    • Using text only
  • Finishing the case design, the one holding everything and survive the wild(carriable)
    • Solution: The simple part for holding deviced, and main part for modules.
    • After the modules done, but can refer the machanical design here.

Assignments

  • Week 7: Group and individual: do the lab's safety training, test runout, alignment, fixturing, speeds, feeds, materials, and toolpaths for your machine. and mill the sill step.
  • Week 9: Group: Test different types of output devices and document their specifications and behaviors.
    • Test a LED and a speaker perhaps
  • week 10: Group and Individual: Collaboratively design a part of a machine that performs a specific task.
    • Automatic writing machine
  • week 13: Review the safety data sheets for each of your molding and casting materials, then make and compare test casts with each of them, compare printing vs machining molds
    • Design a Iron Man CAD file and using CNC to mile, then modeling and casting, reading the materials.
  • week 14: Send a message between two projects.
    • Sending data through Wi-Fi, under the same Wi-Fi, seeing the different IP.
  • week 16: Design and produce something with a digital process (incorporating computer-aided design and manufacturing) not covered in another assignment, documenting the requirements that your assignment meets, and including everything necessary to reproduce it.
    • Machine learning on embedded system.
