15. Wildcard Week

This week I worked on learing a new machine

Individual

I ended up deciding on making patches with the digitial embordery machine found in our lab. I have used this machine in the past to make various different hats:

I have never made any type of embordery aside from hats so I would experiment in my methods of making patches. To start I would find a design that I would be happy to make a patch of, to start I decided to make a patch on the Fab Academy logo. I would find the correct image and import it to the PREMIER Embroidery software where I would convert the file to a .vp3 to allow our machine to properly read it. The process is quite simple upload the image go through these steps where you can make adjustments on the dimensions, color/thread types, and the type of stitching you get. image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test

From here I had my transfer paper on the embordery hoop I started with only one page of paper but as I the thread started stabbing the paper there would be an increasing number of gaps that would ultimatley have me add another piece underneath to ensure the patch may finish with no issue. I would pull up my file onto a new emoberdery and press start. After pressing start the screen will tell you the current thread needed so I would pick the required thread and thread it through the machine if someone doesn’t know how to do so luckily the machine offers a tutorial: image test image test image test image test image test image test image test image test

After threading up the machine I put on the hoop and start the machine. After each color is finished the machine prompts you to change the thread. So you simple cut the thread and rethread the machine with the correct color. Additionally I added the second piece of transfer paper when I got to the white thread portion of the patch. image test image test image test image test image test image test
