Introduction.
"It is better to try to do different things than to wait for the world to change without being part of that change."
This week for me was very interesting because it allowed me to get to know the different machines such as Roland, Shaper, ShopBot, Onsrud, Tormach, Haas, Hurco, Zund, Fellesverkstedet and MTM,
Which facilitate digital manufacturing. I was also able to learn about the different
materials that can be used for digital
manufacturing according to the requirements. I find the manufacture of metal parts very
interesting, which makes me think that everything that I have now bought I will someday be
able to manufacture and reduce costs.
Technology can make a farm, for example, not depend on modern cities to supply its inputs
and even improve people's activities with the use of computers, design software and, of
course, the machinery for digital manufacturing.
The place where Macuspana lives, Tabasco in Mexico created that with the first digital
manufacturing laboratory it will enhance its development and improve people's living
conditions.
There are also many tools for computer-aided manufacturing.

For the cnc machine there are countless of different mills present. Each for different
purposes. For a flat surface it is best to use a endmill. It covers the most surface. There
are many different shapes mill bit for specific purposes. Like V carve, Ball nose, etc.
I did not do the group activity, because I do not have a machine to do the
tests, now with coronavirus I will not be able to go to the FabLab in Yucatan.

Aspire is a practical application developed to design two-dimensional and three-dimensional models for CNC router devices. This application is based on other proprietary software from Vcarve Pro with all the capabilities of the program in the field of CNC modeling. This software is used to perform three-dimensional calculations that are necessary to determine the cutting direction and finally, using CNC cutting machines, the cuts and the final product are produced.
Once installed, you have to open the application.
- To create a layout, from the File menu, select New.
- A window appears with a canvas to start the design.
-
The layout is to create a chair, so I'll leave the x, y dimensions as well as the
thickness, xy origin position, and unit with the default values. Now click on the OK
button.
-
Now it is observed that there are a series of tools on the left side, which allow us,
among other things, to create vecores, edit object, transform object, to know what each
tool does, you just have to place the mouse over each icon and it shows how it does.
-
Select the tool draw circle to draw and give it 300 mm in diameter, if you want to
change the position of the circle click on it. To create the circle in a specific
position, click on that position and click on apply, then click on create, then on
close.
-
After designing, if you want to move the circle, select the "move selected objects" tool
and choose the object you want to change position.
-
To resize an object, select the "set the size of selected objects" tool. This shows the
x, y values of the circle, which can be changed, if necessary.
-
Continuing with the design of the chair, you have to draw another larger circle 350 mm
in diameter.
-
It is time to draw the legs of the chair, for this I am going to use the draw rectangle
tool. The measurements are 300x500mm.
-
Draw a line on the circle with the largest diameter.
-
Select the "align selected objects" tool, double click on the line drawn in the previous
step and move it to the end of the previously drawn rectangle and click close.
-
From the right side of the rectangle I am going to draw an arc, at the top it joins the
corner of the rectangle and from the bottom side to the end of the line.
-
Select the arc and use the keys control + c and then control + v, now use the tool to
move selected objects. Select the arc and use the keys control + c and then control + v,
now use the tool to move selected objects.
-
Use the mirror selected objects tool and click the left button and then close.
-
Move the arc to the left using the Move Selected Objects tool.
-
Remove the inner lines, to do this use the "interactive vector clipping" tool. You just
have to click on the line you want to delete.
-
To check if there are open vectors, right click on the canvas and choose "select all
open vectors", if there are, dashed lines appear.
-
To join the vectors, use the "join open vectors" tool, some values appear on the left
side, click the Join button.
-
Now you have to make an offset, that is, an interior design equal to the one selected.
To do this, use the "Selected Vector Offset" tool at the bottom and choose the object,
then select "Inward / Left", show a distance of 100mm, click "Offset" and then "Close"
-
Draw two lines at the bottom of both sides of the inner object.
-
Trim the lines. Remember to use the tool "interactive vector trim".
-
Select the "Extend Vectors" tool, its icon looks like the letter "v"
Click on the line you want to extend and it is extended, so that it joins the horizontal
line, click on it. If for some reason the line does not extend, leave one of the lines
drawn earlier and then delete it. Step 21.
-
Trim the bottom horizontal line. Remember to use the "interactive vector trim" tool.
-
Generate the seat assemblies with the legs, to do this draw a rectangle.
-
Trim
-
It duplicates (control + c, control + v) and moves the duplicated object.
-
Draw reference line from top horizontal line to bottom and centered.
-
Double click on the line and make it small to the middle, a round circle appears (when
moving reduce).
-
Create a rectangle in the center of the 12.1 mm line.
-
Delete center line and remove the other lines, in such a way that it looks like in the
image.
-
Draw a rectangle and move to the center of the circle.
-
Copy the rectangle and rotate it 90 degrees.
-
Delete interior lines.
-
Copy and paste in the other circle (remember to select the objects)
-
Create fillets.
-
It is given a value of 3.175, it is the radius of the cutting tool, the corner is
clicked.
-
Create fillet, select "Dog-Bone" Fillet.
-
finally a normal rounding is done on the inside.
-
Select the cross of the greater circle, in the Toolpaths menu choose Tool Database
In the deep cut it is recommended that it be half the diameter of the bit.
Forward speed has to do with the revolutions per minute of the router. -
Passes.
Offset allows spiral scrolling The ramp entry enters diagonally smoothly.
When you click calculate, it displays the following. -
Select the cross of the first circle, the first option is chosen, the data is verified.
They must be the same as the previous process.
It is changed to three passes.
The cut must run within the vector. -
Now the remaining 4 objects are selected and the first option is chosen, in addition to adding trajectory tabs.
Now they must be fixed, for this, edit Tabs (button) is used, and with the mouse the points are placed to fix.
Close and calculate. -
The next step is to save the code or trajectory, to do this, click on the "Save trajectory" button.
-
The next step is to save the code or trajectory, to do this, click on the "Save trajectory" button.
-
Select all trajectories, post processor and click the Save button, choose the path and write the name of the file.
It is time to perform the cnc cutting, for this you have to open the Mach3 software and show the panel.
Now you have to load the path file.
Visualization of the cutting process.
Preparing the material for cutting.
Little by little the cut is made.
Assembling the components of the chair is exciting, the whole process is a matter of practicing to improve, for now I am satisfied with the result.
It is really pleasant to finish the activity, since the design, the cutting and finally the assembly began, it had some
details due to the tolerance, but it was something minimal, to be my first cutting job, I am happy.
