What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
The completed tasks are all those less complex to put it in some way, that is, those that
only require 2d and 3d design, they are activities that have inspired me to create designs,
my emotion with 3d design was such that I bought a printer and that has allowed me to see,
for example, the quality of a manufactured object based on the material used and the
parameters when preparing the design for printing.
I have not completed the tasks related to electronics, I really could not move forward for
the following reasons the pandemic, the distance that exists between the city where I live
and the FabLab, lack of experience in electronic design, the lack of an advisor and
especially the most important part, the machinery, it is not the same to see the material
and try to make a design to verify that the design materializes in a circuit (pcb) with the
certainty that the appropriate electronic components were used, that is frustrating for me .
My project idea is to create, rather modify a lock so that it can be opened using a card and
reader, and there is no longer the need to use a key.
At first the idea was to modify the lock, removing part of its internal mechanism, then it
occurred to me to design a base to mount a servo-motor, but I noticed that by fixing these
parts on the lock and fixing it, its base increased the volume. So, on the recommendation of
the local instructor Oscar Díaz, the model was changed and instead used a solenoid, thereby
avoiding those details.
The project is finally finished with the help of advisor Oscar Díaz.
What has worked? what hasn´t?
I have not finished the electronic design, from the beginning due to lack of electronic
components, then due to problems with the capacity of resistles and then because the design
I chose HELLO.ISP.44 has given me a lot of problem with the drivers, both in Windows and In
Linux.
To fulfill the weekly activities I decided to work with an arduine and use some sensors and
material that I could buy online, but that does not look like anything to have to do the
whole process from the design to the manufacture of the plates, that has Constaled work
because I could not work on a normal way each activity.
I'm excited because the 2d design part for cnc and vinyl cutting as well as 3d design is
complete.
what questions need to be resolved?.
How to design the carriage mechanism? In the "Mechanical Design, Machine Design" activity,
what do I need so that the code recorder can be programmed using the Windows operating
system?
what will happen when?
I really like everything related to manufacturing and I want to finish the course and
dedicate time to learn other things, given my situation I hardly have time because I work
from Monday to Sunday and that complicates things for me.
what have you learned?
I have learned that I do not need to live in a modern or developed city to manufacture or do
different things, that is, instead of being a consumer I can create technology.
I didn't know anything about 3d design, now I have notions that allow me to use software to
design and that motivated me to buy a 3d printer to materialize those designs.
I learned electronic design, I am not very good but I think that is a matter of practice.
