My name is Angel León Ramos, I'm from Tabasco, Mexico, I like everything related to technology. I am a programming teacher at the Macuspana Institute of Technology. Since last year three colleagues and I are working to create a digital manufacturing laboratory within the institute, the economic resource was opposed from a convacatory issued by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) of the Mexican government.
The objective is to bring the inhabitants of the state of Tabasco to the use of science and technology, it is contemplated that children, youth and adults can learn to create pieces, from modeling to manufacturing. It also seeks to improve the production processes of artisans, that is, it is intended that they themselves can innovate and improve their products with the use of technology.
The whole process of the call was quick, at that time my colleagues and friends Gibran Lechuga, Rosa Margarita Reyes, Margarita Quevedo and I, we had no experience in digital manufacturing, our emotion was great when they tell us that after evaluating our proposal was accepted . The policy of this call is to work the project in 4 stages (two years), we are currently reviewing the first stage, the laboratory is called DigifabMacuspana, once we met some of the FabLab in Mexico, we decided to name it as FabLabTabasco -DigifabMacuspana.
My job has been for several years to teach software and database development, I don't have any experience in digital manufacturing, that's my challenge. I'm interested in learning to help people in my state, because being honest there isn't much technology here. I want to leave a legacy and that my children feel proud of me.
I know that it involves a lot of work, because maybe unlike many of the participants already have a laboratory and experience in design and modeling, but with the help of Neils and my colleagues from the Yucatan node I will achieve it. To do the practices I will have to travel maybe one week if and another not because I have to travel 582 kilometers to get to Yucatan, another inconvenience is that I will miss classes and I have to create a strategy so that my students are not attracted to my constant departures.
I enjoy being at home with my wife and children. I have a degree in computer science from the Technological Institute of Villahermosa and I have a master's degree in engineering and software development at the postgraduate school in Puebla.
