How To Make Almost Anything
(or at least attempt to)
a website to chronicle the process of early 21st century fabrication
ABOUT
FabAcademy presented the opportunity to be surrounded by makers interested in learning the tools of the 21st century that interface between machines and physical making. Beyond the capacity of the tools, I am excited to be a part of a crew that is thinking about the concepts behind them, the ways they can influence individual freedom and confidence in the capacity to make changes needed in local communities or more globally.
I have worked professionally as an artist, educator and administrator for over 15 years and I see creative practice as a way to understand, investigate and communicate multiple experiences and perspectives. With an emphasis on the creation of educational models that give equal value to the types of inquiry that take place in a lab, studio and workshop setting, I use opportunities in classrooms, informal and after-school settings to experiment with curriculum that encourages students to move between divergent and convergent thinking, and to formulate a systems understanding of their place in the world.
