machine design
1.Aim
In this part ,I would use Fusion 360 to design the structure of machine and output some digital data for machine making part(dwg file for laser cutting and STL file for AutoCAD) This is the result of my design. It divide two parts: core part(stepper motor, aluminum block, aluminum profile) and frame(use acrylic)

3. Frame design( Acrylic)
3.1 The following is the basic information
- The size of frame is 250X250 ;
- I use 2mm acrylic to make it;
- According to the experience in (Week4:Computer control cutting),I get the parameter kelf 0.2mm;
- Design 7 boards
3.2 The following is the basic introduce of fusion 360 design and I attach the link in attachment.
3.3 Output dwg file
I Output dwg file and it would be used in Laser cutting processing. I just show the operation of Slide2 board, because the operation of all these 7 boards is same.
3.4 Assemble frame
I use the following video to show how to assemble thee model.
4.Part design
In this section, I need to design the main part for my machine. It can control the extrude of Sn. Some of the structure I reference from FDM extrude structure.
4.1 Get open source data (Stepper motor and Hot end)
Stepper motor
I have done it in the part of 3D design practice for MECHANICAL DESIGN &BUILDING/2.4 Model 4. Stepper motor.So I take some of the content and edit it again. I take the stepper motor from Autodesk community .
I search motor
to find Gene Shoykhet
Then delete all of another part and just keep stepper motor.
Hot end
The following is my new design compare with traditional hot end
Same method get the hot nozzle and edit. I attach the data
Then I add a insulation ring(in this demo I use lathe to process wood ,later I would use PEEK to replace) The size is the following,
Then I assemble them together
4.2. Aluminum block
I need use Aluminum to connect all part together.So I design the following block
Because it would be process in milling machine and drilling machine, so I output drawing.
4.3. Aluminum profile
The function of this frame is build the structure of the machine and support another part.
Sketch: I use the following command in the above operation( Normal line, Circle,Fillet, Rectangle,Size, Mirror,Trim) to edit the sketch,In addition ,the frame is standard part, so I draw sketch according to the standard
Use extrude to get our 3D model. Then save the model.
5.Assemble
I assemble them according to the experience of week3:computer aided design. I just attach the link of assemble video
